Thanks Kev. That is pretty much what I did including having a look at the injector itself. It was awkward to get off but looked okay.
I am certain it was the fuel as it run well last night after tippping the old fuel away. Thanks again, dave

Update re the help
 
Now then, just when I thought I had sorted the problem. The bike ran like a dream and returned home.. I put the bike away for the week and the following weekend it wouldn't bloody start. Bearing in mind the bike had new fuel and had ran okay it was time to look further at the bike. I took the pug out, I could see fuel coming out of the head and the plug was sparking.

I couldn't understand what the hell was wrong unless there was a fault with the immobiliser. I went out and got a new plug for a fiver, fitted it and bingo..... Was it the plug all along or the fuel then the plug?. The plug was working out of the engine however breaking down when in the head trying to do its job. Weird but well away now.
