Michelin SIRAC's

I got these as standard on my ten, just wondered, does anyone rate them? as I think they are fab on the road and great off it for a dual purpose tyre, well.....as long as the off road sections stay dry otherwise its a bit of a rollerskate on ice!!!
I really do think I have more confidence in them than I did my Pirelli Diablo stradas I had on my SV and as a result I am cornering quicker on the Ten even in the wet!!!:icon_blackeye:

I find them great on the road wet or dry, haven't really put them to the test off road to be honest.

Ask Stoicbloke, he was on Siracs in the Lakes - I can confirm he never had any trouble keeping the pace.

Here's another one on Siracs (I think he was anyway) - Chekamus

If you're in the mud then the dual sport tyres just don't cut it, but for most trail stuff, up here in the lakes anyway, they are fine. The manual suggest a slight drop in pressure, but these guys had just spent all morning on the motorways and then straight into some off-road stuff, so I'm not so sure....

coxwain 20-05-09 07:51

yep they get my vote ,seem to do everything.

boodz 20-05-09 11:30

what was the other tyre fitted as standard? was it tourances or sumfen and are they anygood also? I wonder why they changed them, supply and demand issues maybe?

boodz 20-05-09 11:34

good photos GULG, look like you all had a ball, and some good trails as well. I said to the missus the last time we where in the lakes that i will need to take the bike next time, this just confirmed it.
Also, is it just the angle the photo was taken at or does chekamus have band extra bright headlight?:119::119:

yeah i was on the siracs, i think they are a great all round tyre, not the best for off road but they manage.

i did drop my rear tyre pressure for off road but not intentionally!!!! as u all know!!

Most of my riding is road/motorway and I've recently changed my Siracs for a set of Bt45 road based tyres. The BT45's might have more grip in the dry (not that the sirac was lacking) but the Sirac certainly seems to have the edge in the wet (and why I'm trying the BT45s in the summer not over the winter month).

Great tyre's wet or dry on tarmac.

Done 4000 miles.Must be 2-3000 miles left.

Split sidewall

Just noticed the sidewall on my front has two small splits!

I guess this could be caused by the dealer if they fit the tyre before hand over or maybe by some spaniard in the factory? anyway the bike had done just 400 miles when I noticed it.

Any idea if this would be covered by any warranty or sale of goods rights?

mmmmmmm, i don't know about that one, Tyres are obviously very much wear and tear items, and suppose it would come down to proof as they could say it happened out in the road or vandalism. sucks though:icon_frown:

Just as you suspected, the dealer was having none of my claim despite my argument. In fact they replaced the tyre and charged me 35 labour for the pleasure. Obviously I inspected the new tyre for obvious damage and discovered the dealer had fitted a different type!! I pointed this out and the idiot at service reception would have none of my insistence that the tyre was not the specified fitment and did not match the rear.
As it happens the retards at this Vauxhall based dealer also failed to fill the oil correctly putting most of it into the radiator fins, I discovered this during my ride home when the oil sprayed itself from the radiator all over the bike and my legs! I'm going back on Monday armed with the manual to seek out the service manager and complain properly for this shocking treatment,

boodz 15-06-09 23:22

That sounds outrageous treatment, I would definately contest the tyre choice as a legal point as different tyres have very different handling qualities and as such need to be matched. Mind you, it wouldn't be the 1st time I have mixed tyres but that was largely for financial reasons, and didn't really notice the difference until I finally got them matched again some months later when funds allowed.

Good luck with it Rob

Had a lot of different tire combinations: no problemo.

Yesterday I had to change the front Sirac at 22000km. I like the tires (lots of grip in dry and wet) but both front and rear wore to fast (rear worn at 8000km).

Put a Heidenau K60 on the front and will put it on the back when the Battle Wing is worn.

givitsum 25-08-09 18:22

tyres -

Had to replace my rear Sirac at 4500 miles when it wore out then the front at 6 thou - good enough tyres but the front had the bike handling like a pig for the last thousand miles.

I put a Tourance on the rear but it doesn't look like she'll last as long as the Sirac did. Running a Pirelli in front - think it is an MT90 but it was all I could get at the time. Both tyres are working well and the new front has made a tremendous difference on tarmac and on forestry roads - amazing what new rubber does for your confidence

lay-off ---

Back on the Tenere after a long lay-off to find there's almost 10,000 miles on the clock.
The front MT90 still has some life in it but the rear Tourance is goosed. No dramatics in the handling and no weave even fully laden with panniers and massive camp-bag at speeds up to an indicated 113mph. She won't go any faster :sad11:

If I was buying tyres tomorrow I reckon I would get the OE Siracs and change 'em as a pair.
