wiring in accessories ??

Hi

what is the best and neatest way to wire in GPS units ? I have a Zumo 550 to fit.

Thanks

Duncan

If youtake off the black cover behind the headlight, there's a two-way connector. You can plug into that, if you can get the other end from somewhere, or chop it off (like I did) and fit a more readily available type.
As for brackets, I've used the special Touratech extension and the Touratech anti-vibe mounts. It all looks good and works well! :002:

I did mine differently (It went in pre-GPS-wire-whats-it-for debate) and installed a full auxilary circuit, I also made my own extension but still have the TT anti-vib mount.

If I was to do it again, I'd use the GPS wire!

Here's the mount I made ->

I went for a more lo-tech approach to mounting my GPS hardware:

The silver brackets are pipe brackets for radiator pipes I think, cost me about 1.50 from the local DIY store, I then bought a bicycle innertube that I cut up and wrapped that around the provided bar. It does vibrate though when you first start the engine, once it warms up it's fine.

I fitted my 550 to the bar behind the screen using a Ram Mount, Used some Black fuel line fitted over the bar to take out some of the vibes.

Cut the end off the 550 power lead and fitted 2, 1mm pins from a water proof connector which fit in to the plug behind the lights. All wires then hidden behind the black light pannel. 550 sits behind the screen a treat and no vibes! :icon_thumright:

I used the original ram mount that came with the Zumo on the bar behind teh screen. Since the bar is too thin I used a rubber from an old steel brake line I had lying around (used to fixate the brake line to the fornt fork). Fits perfectly and smooths out the vibes...

I think he must be, my under seat area definately doesn't contain any spaghetti, I have just been and checked.
