Errrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I know people take the mickey out of me for all the gear that I carry, but i've had loads of camping experience and the kit has developed over the last thirty years to make me warm and comfortable. I hope that this little adventure will not put you off Bear as we had a good time and I hope to meet up with you again. It's only when you see what others use that you get an idea of the kit to get. My sleeping bag is good for minus 20 and I wore my thermals all weekend, even in the 'Summer' it's cold on a night time. My last purchase was an ex army gortex bivvi bag that I put my sleeping bag into, toastie warm!

Cant agree more those stupid roll out mats are unless. If your really into your camping try a thermorest. Very famous make, they are a bit expensive but you pay for what you get. I got one for my Gold duke of ed (4 days 3 nights 20km walking min each day) so you need a good night sleep. Never had a problem.
